Who We Are
We are creoles from Acadiana (Southwestern Louisiana); specifically Opelousas and Lake Charles, Louisiana. We want to share our delicious beloved recipes from our family to yours that represent the culture of our people- the Creole people of Southwest Louisiana. My grandmother Marie Lastrapes cooked with love and passion, and naturally progressed to owning her own Catering Business. She has had the honor of cooking for Governors/ Mayors/ elected officials/Corporations/ Brides and individual families to meet the needs of the event or occasion. Her dedication to detail assuring everyone felt the undeniable love that went into each meal. We want to share her recipes, her custom creole seasoning and even demonstrate step by step via video so you can be the talk of the town in no time as you share these great recipes with family and friends.

Only able to speak (Creole) French a little Creole girl of 3 years old had to look out on a brave new world, her mother had been called home and was gone. She was however surrounded by love from her father and 13 siblings as she grew into a young talented cook. As an adult she worked as a maid, progressed into becoming an entrepreneur, opening Marie's Catering until she retired at 84. She created her own custom Creole Seasoning and launched a cookbook with the help of her oldest grandaughter, Anita Porche'-Garcia compiling family favorites. Now a vibraint 96, approaching the century mark she is still passing along her knowledge and love. The sweetest person you would ever meet in your life.
